My core values were written with you in mind.
Integrity.
When you choose the wrong web design freelancer or agency, it can cost you a lot of time and money. This especially hurts when you’re starting a new business.
After starting my business, I had numerous clients come to me with horror stories about agencies holding their website and domains hostage. These clients had very limited options because they didn’t own their domain or the email associated with it. They weren’t able to update or change anything without paying the agency to do so. If you work with me, you will own your website, the logo, all of the content, the domain, and the email associated with it. That means you have control of your website. Period.
Let’s talk about your budget. I will always use fair and honest business dealings with you.
When you work with me, you will always have access to everything you need because you purchase you own domain and hosting plan on Squarespace or Shopify.
Fair Pricing.
When clients ask me about the price of a new website, I always tell them that the cost of their website is commensurate with their website needs.
Asking how much a website costs is a lot like going on a vacation. Is it a quick weekend trip to a nearby city or a month in Italy?
Web designers shouldn’t fly by the seat of their pants. It’s important for the two of us to work together to create a solid, well-researched design plan. Doing so, means that my pricing will be be fair and accurate.
Our working relationship begins with a free discovery meeting. This helps us both understand what you want and whether we want to work together. That way, I can give you an accurate and fair quote at no cost.
For every custom website I create, I include a style tile or mood board and wireframes, so clients can see the colors, fonts, and icon designs before we begin to put your website on a platform.
This gives you greater input into the design process and allows you to make basic changes before the website is created. In the end, your designs will be consistent with the branding and goals of your business.
Creativity.
Make sure the web designer you hire can create a website that fits your business needs. This means googling the websites they’ve designed and checking out their work. If everything looks the same, then your website will look that way, too.
Not all designers and websites are the same and it’s not enough to like the person you hire, you have to like their design work, too. Most of the time, you get what you pay for. You can hire the cheapest web designer, but the end product may not be what you want or like.
I live in a mountain town and see so many logos and websites that contain the same design. When I travel to surrounding areas, I see variations of the same mountain image used for multiple business logos. Does it matter? Of course! You want your business to create an impression and stand out.
I invest in the best design programs that are the industry standard. The websites I design contain original, custom design work.
I’m knowledgeable about color and font symbolism and how they work together to create messages for your potential clients.
After we agree on a style tile or mood board that works for your business, I design wireframes, which are mockup pages of your website. I do my research and make sure that your website, logo and icons are different than your competitors.
Education.
I’m committed to learning, and I’ve taken multiple courses that cover web design, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and Google Search Console and Analytics.
Creating a seriously good website or logo involves problem-solving, innovation, and flexibility. Good web designers take the initiative to stay up-to-date on technology and business innovations.
As a former English and publications teacher, I’m a lifelong learner and if I don’t understand how to do something, I research and reach out to my network of web designers.
Excellence.
I’m committed to hard work and creating great results that will help your business stand out. I spent almost two decades teaching a publications class that included the components of layout and design.
When you’re hiring a web designer, don’t just look at the screenshots of their work. Make sure you click on the links to the websites they’ve designed. When designers don’t backlink to the websites they’ve created, google the name of the business to check out the design work. Doing so helps you understand the designer’s style and what you’re paying for as a client.
